The Great Barrier Reef is Doomed!!

The Great Barrier Reef is doomed according to one Professor who has a book to sell when locals in the area suggest that it is looking better than ever.

Baby corals has been found with some reefs showing signs of recovery following Cyclone Yasi in 2011.

Here is an item from the Cairns Post today (11th December 2013).

I suppose we have to believe the Professor as he has a book to sell.
When are these people going to give up the scam?

  1. They forgot to mention that every river in the country was supposed to run dry a couple of years back, or that the dams that supply water to the major cities were to run dry a couple of years back ( most are in a very healthy state) and will never fill up again or that by 2013 there would be no ice left in the arctic circle. Funny thing though. All of the smarties that went up to the Arctic Circle to float around where the ice used to be are now locked into some of the heaviest pack ice that has ever been recorded and some of them are so unprepared that they risk losing their lives trying to prove their point.
I wouldn't be blowing off in the Media or releasing books at a time where the claims made there are irrefutably proven wrong. They are making fools of themselves.

  2. Great Barrier Reef tourism will really decline now, or not reach higher numbers as should be the case with an increasing world population.
The pro fishing and amateur fishing tourism industries will also be negatively impacted and consequences will kick back on coastal community economies.
The problem as real evidence indicates is the nutrient load feeding algae that smothers seagrass.

I wonder if they have measured the nutrient load coming into GBR waters from south of Fraser Island, because they have to know that loading in order to establish a safe level of increased nutrients that will come from new dredging.

Damage at Gladstone has had massive impact as unprecedented starvation of mutton birds indicates.

  3. Here is a bit more misinformation that is being spread around. This was sent to me this morning so I thought I would share it on here. No reference from where the tweet came but appears to be legitimate and we know that some do not let the truth get in the way of a good story.
